It is important to note there are differences published in the Hobart Town Courier arrival notice. It is probable that the names published are those of older children rather than of the men or their wives. The names published in the Hobart Town Courier are probably sons over 14 years of age rather than Fencibles themselves as only a few male names are recorded thus.

Mrs Finnerty sailed with a child five years after her husband, Michael Finnerty who came by the Clifton in 1847, only to find that he had died a short time before her arrival in the Colony. This means her child was at least five years of age. Compiler thought she was Bridget who then married John Goonan after their arrival in Auckland but Fencible Society book says she was Margaret Finnerty and married secondly Thomas Neaves in 1853 so apparently compiler is in error.
